Weekly News Update – Week 38
Congratulations to Hardy B who were comfirmed Division 1 Champions for a second consecutive year. Unfortunately Hardy A have been relegated to Division 2 even after winning their home games, but on a more positive note managed to reach the semi-finals of the Hardy A Cup losing out to the eventual winners Partstone.
The Tommy Knobbs Trophy was contested last Saturday followed by the W4B draw.
Milborne Port retained the Trophy with a total of 430pts with significant contributions from non residents. Rest of the world 2nd on 411 points followed by Sherborne’s 386 points whose team included Jo Terry as a late replacement and Yeovil trailing a distant 4th on 369 points.
Many thanks as usual to Steve Williams for being the evening’s MC and producing plenty of wit and finally to the 4 Captains for organising the event and looking after the evening’s special guests the Tommy Knobbs family.
The W4B draw and 1st round tee times can be found in the Men’s Golf section of the web site (or men’s notice board) with the first round to be played on Sunday 8th October. If you wish to be a reserve over the 8 round competition please leave your name and contact details on the list pinned on the men’s notice board.
Bar & catering news:
We welcome new chef Louise who will be starting work in the kitchen this week.
The Camelot Challenge will be taking place this Saturday. Please be aware that the runners will be running UP the 12th fairway, so please take care. The lane opposite the Club entrance will also be closed.
Members Open Evening Thursday 28th @ 19:30.
The evening’s presentation by the Management Committee will review the results of the SGC Members Survey Report – July 2017, the Survey results can be found on the Members Area of the SGC website under Club Management section.

Important points to remember:
ALWAYS on arrival check for any course updates which can be found on the external “white board” or if in doubt ask the Pro Shop. Daily course updates can be due to weather or course maintenance.
ALWAYS remember to repair divot and pitch marks!
ALWAYS keep up the pace of play and encourage members in your groups to play READY GOLF. SGC supports the R&A in READY GOLF and therefore the Club will NOT tolerate any SLOW play.
