Sherborne scratch golfers retain Stoke Salver
Starting early on a cold and sunny Sunday morning 2nd October Sherborne’s scratch team won the Stoke Salver Final at Yeovil Golf Club, successfully retaining the Salver trophy after their 2015 win
The Stoke Salver is a scratch knock-out competition for club teams of 8, including the Club Professional, organised by Yeovil Golf Club with clubs from Somerset, Dorset and Devon taking part and the final is always played at Yeovil. For the second year running the teams from Sherborne and Ashley Wood had reached the Final.
The Final was a closely fought match with Sherborne’s team of Club Professional Alistair Tresidder, Matt Sandy, Tom Plumb, Alice Plumb, Tom Lawrence, Adam Harris, Carl Broomfield and Steve Randall 3 : 1 leaders after the morning foursomes and the afternoon singles tied 4 : 4, giving Sherborne a close win 7 : 5 overall.
